With just a day to go until Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 swings onto PC, Sony has shared details of its platform-enhanced features, as well as the hardware required to run it. Many have waited long to play Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC, but for some, the performance is an absolute nightmare. According to credible rumors, Marvel’s Venom by Insomniac Games is doing well, and gamers suspect it could become a launch title for the PlayStation 6. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a singleplayer game, not featuring online play of any sort.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was first revealed during Sony’s 2021 PlayStation Showcase event. The initial trailer gave us a look at Peter Parker and Miles Morales in action together, with Venom joining the fight at the very end. During PlayStation’s September 2023 State of Play, Insomniac showcased a closer look at Marvel’s New York. Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar noted that this version of New York is nearly twice the size of the original game, thanks to the addition of the Queens and Brooklyn boroughs.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the open-world sequel to the web-slinger’s first game by Insomniac Games, is coming to PC late in January 2025. The game, which released on PS5 in 2023, follows Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they fight classic Spider-Man rouges like Kraven the Hunter and Venom. While the game left some stories open for more down the road, Insomniac Games has addressed whether Spider-Man 2 will get any story DLC. The final trailer shows more of Venom and a newly revealed villain in the form of Sandman. It also shows more of the Venom in the symbiote form and how it affects Peter mentally with the black suit, as well as how Venom becomes his own humanoid form by latching onto one of the characters.
Digital Deluxe Edition
None of that’s necessarily a dealbreaker, though—the real problem is the characters. Though not wildly different mechanically (they’re separated mostly by a different set of combat powers), the two do feel impressively different, largely thanks to top notch animation work and a commendable attention to detail. How much this dual protagonist feature actually adds to the game is a little questionable I think, but the execution is undeniably slick. With options like raytracing and ultra-wide support, we want to give players the chance to make full use of their high-end PC gaming rigs. However, at Nixxes we also take pride in making PC games scale down to prior generation hardware. To cater to this, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC offers a wide range of graphics settings and presets, including options without ray-tracing, like dynamic resolution scaling.
However, if you’re still playing on your potato PC of old, you might just be able to handle 720p gameplay, giving just about every type of gamer the chance to swing around the rooftops. Those specs are roughly four to five years old at this point, so anything older might not be good enough here. With a PC like this, you’ll be able to shoot for 30fps gameplay at 1,280 x 720 using the very low graphics preset. https://777x.center/ ‘ll be just about playable, but it won’t be as graphically appealing, and that’s also a low resolution.

Sadly, the excitement around its release has been soured by poor optimizations. This is one of those cases where more time in development could have prevented the majority of the problems it’s facing now. Hosted by Lorraine Cink and Ryan “Agent M” Penagos, swing back into the news.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 delivers an incredible story about heroes and villains grappling with loneliness. Spider-Man 2 feels like it’s right in the centre of Sony’s blockbuster sequel design philosophy. Where Horizon Forbidden West did the same thing but bigger, The Last of Us Part 2 elevated itself technologically, narratively, and most importantly, ambitiously. Spider-Man 2 falls between these approaches – it has some of Horizon’s safety, but with a slice of the elevation The Last of Us brought. Spider-Man 2 is the future of polished, competent, elevated sequels, and brings with it so many technical flourishes and a perfect execution of the formula that it stands in a class of its own.
